A Look at the Midas HD Series Firmware v2.4.0 Update

Midas has officially released the v2.4.0 firmware update for its HD Series consoles, bringing a suite of powerful features designed to improve workflows, enhance DAW integration, and boost overall system stability. Whether you are running complex studio setups or managing live productions, this update introduces significant improvements that you should know about.

Here is a breakdown of what the v2.4.0 update brings to your console.

Enhanced DAW Integration

A primary focus of this update is creating a more seamless connection between Midas hardware and popular DAW platforms.

Waves Integration

Midas now offers deeper integration with Waves SuperRack (Performer or Sound Grid). By connecting via Ethernet, your console’s scene recalls are automatically mirrored to your SuperRack sessions and snapshots. You can also leverage the new Waves Touch and Turn sidebar, allowing for quick control of plug-in parameters directly via the console's rotaries.

Expanded Reaper Functionality

Controlling Reaper from your HD console is now easier than ever. A new, simple installer automates the setup of OSC definitions and Lua scripts, simplifying patch management. The update also introduces Timecode Event Triggers, enabling you to trigger console events based on Reaper’s timecode. This can be set up manually or via a learn function.

Workflow and Control Enhancements

The v2.4.0 update introduces several quality-of-life changes to make daily operation more intuitive.

GEQ on Faders

You can now map your Graphic EQ directly to the faders, allowing for much more tactile and precise adjustment during a show.

Routing Flexibility

New Route In and Route Out buttons have been added, allowing for faster one-to-one patching when working with your DAW.

Wireless Support

Expanding the Midas ecosystem, this update adds support for Sennheiser EW-DX (EM4 and EM2) wireless receivers. These units now share the same control parameters as the EM6000 series. Additionally, support for the Sennheiser V2 API means you can now manage secure, password-protected units directly from the console.

System Reliability

Beyond the new features, this firmware release includes significant under-the-hood optimisations, specifically focusing on reduced scene recall times and improved overall system stability, ensuring your console is more reliable during critical moments.
