• Works perfectly - fixed my DT880 250Ohm headphones

  I broke the original Beyerdynamic DT880 250Ohm driver by trying to remove some hairs that were stuck to the right driver (caused bass rattle). The diaphragm got stuck to the magnet, rendering the driver useless. Barely any sound came out of it. In search of a new driver, I looked on Polar to see if they had any spare drivers available. Beyerdynamic themselves don't deliver to UK due to Brexit, so Polar were my only option. They did not have this driver listed on their site originally. I contacted Polar and asked them if they had any. They said they did not, but would get one as soon as an order was placed. As this driver wasn't on the site, I couldn't make an order request. A few days later, they informed me they had added it to their site. I could then order it. The wait was not as long as expected. I was expecting a 3-4 week wait. I placed an order on 4th March 2022 and waited. On 16th March 2022, the parcel arrived. I consider this fast considering the driver wasn't in stock. Driver itself works beautifully. My headphones have now been fully restored. Everything sounds as it's supposed to. Soldering is easier on these newer drivers because they don't have those tabs that the older drivers had. The older drivers were riskier because the voice coil was connected to those same tabs. Risk of desoldering them was quite high. There's none of that with these newer drivers. You still have to be slightly careful, but it's easier to be careful as you can see where the voice coil is and know which area to avoid.
