Oh So Yum!
Sisters Harpreet and Gurvinder Kaur are the owners of three dessert parlours in West Yorkshire, named, very appropriately by all accounts, Oh So Yum.
The opening of their Bradford shop (and new HQ) followed hot on the heels of Harpreet’s victory on last year’s The Apprentice TV show, during which her business plans impressed the programme’s iconic star Lord Alan Sugar. More than 7 million viewers tuned in to see the Huddersfield entrepreneur take the prize.
With its unique range of sweet treats, Oh So Yum merchandise, and even an in-store photo booth, the Bradford venue was meticulously designed to deliver the best possible customer experience.
In order to fully achieve their aims and help to create the right ambience in the space, part of the design included a discreet high quality audio system that could deliver background music with great clarity at high and low volumes. It was especially important that the loudspeakers should not detract from the carefully curated interior design. Acting on the recommendation of the project’s construction team, Gurvinder contacted Pete Steele of Premier Pro Audio (PPA) to discuss a solution.
Premier Pro Audio
Huddersfield-based specialist PPA has more than fifteen years’ experience in the live and installed audio sector, delivering solutions for a wide range of settings including clubs, music venues, education, houses of worship and hospitality. PPA principal Pete Steele visited Oh So Yum to take account of the brief and subsequently consulted with Richard Ward of POLAR over the best way forward.
Recognising that the visual element of the system was of the utmost importance to the client, Richard recommend a Cornered Audio solution. Designed and manufactured in Denmark, Cornered Audio loudspeakers blend rich sound with unrivalled aesthetics to complement high quality interior design. With their unique 90° triangular design, the speakers mount straight onto walls and ceilings, under balconies and, as the name would suggest, in corners.

At Oh So Yum, Premier Pro Audio installed 4 x Cornered Audio Ci5-V loudspeakers. Elegant and versatile, the Ci5-V is a compact two-way full-range speaker with strong output and solid bass performance that is a favourite of hospitality venues around the world. Its wide and uniform dispersion was particularly suited to Oh So Yum, enabling as it does, full coverage from relatively few speakers.
Its patented triangular Cornered design and new sliders ensure fast and easy install, and with its hidden cable terminal, cable connection is invisible in both vertical and horizontal applications. The unit’s tweeter features a switchable protection circuit for added safety and the Ci5-V can be run in either 8 ohm or 70/100 volt.
The system at Oh So Yum was completed by an Australian Monitor AMB1200 2 x 600W power amplifier and a versatile Mackie Mix8 8-channel compact mixer, which allows staff easy control over their chosen audio content. Both products were also supplied by POLAR.
Pete was very happy with the end result:
