ToneboneThe Radial Tonebone range of pedals are designed for professional use where quality, durability and performance is critical. Utmost care and attention is paid to each Tonebone to ensure it will be quiet, have plenty of dynamic range and deliver exciting results for years to come. Tonebone is a brand aimed at musicians and gear they use in their stage rigs and pedal boards, compared to the products of parent company Radial Engineering which are aimed at audio engineers and front of house applications . As with the rest of Radial Engineering products, Tonebone pedals are made in Canada with pride.
"Over the past 15 years, the key attributes that have been engineered into each Tonebone pedal are range and flexibility. This means that with a single pedal, you can find your voice and develop your tone as your playing evolves. Powerful controls let you make slight adjustments to refine your tone; this is part of the magic that makes a great pedal."
Artists first choice for purity and enhancement of sound
The superior sound of Tonebone pedals comes from Radial's expertise in maintaining signal integrity as found in their industry standard DI boxes, while their whisper-quiet operation and bullet proof reliability have made them essential tools for professional musicians; accordingly the Tonebone artist roster features many of the worlds most celebrated guitarists, bass players and performers.
Modern guitar amplifier rigs are often complicated, with several amplifiers, cabinets and numerous pedals employed to deliver the desired range of sounds. Tonebone makes a variety of switchers and routing pedals that allow guitarists to switch seamlessly from one sound to another at the press of a button.
Overdrive and distortion pedals to suit any taste
Tonebone pedals offer every possible flavour of overdrive and distortion, from subtle clean boost that gives your amp more punch, to the classic, bluesy grit and bite of a Tube Screamer style overdrive, all the way through to the full blown high-gain distortion used in modern rock and metal.
These overdrive circuits are designed to emulate the characteristic sound of classic amplifiers, offering the signature sweet mid-range and singing sustain of "American" amps like Fender and Mesa Boogie or the full-bodied crunch and warmth of "British" amps like Marshall and Orange.
Overdrive & Distortion Pedals
Tonebone pedals employ a unique class-A front end that buffers the signal while retaining the natural relationship between your fingers and the amp, providing distortion without hiding the dynamics in your playing.
The Elevator is a unique power booster and buffer that can generate mild overdrive when pushing the front end of an amp harder. W
The Classic V9 is a distortion pedal with several gain stages ranging between light, moderate and intense distortion.
The Hot British is often described as the best Marshall amp in a stomp box ever made. The tone is based on Marshalls modified to enable them to produce distortion without having to be played on 10.
The Texas Pro offers up three generations of overdrive to suit those who are looking for a varitety of tones, from the classic TS9 to the extra crunch akin to the Fulltone® OCD.
The Regency and The North-Star are both dual-mode overdrive pedals offering users who have pre-saturated amps two flavours of either adding clean boost or extra distortion to your signal.
Switchers & Splitters
Tonebone prides itself in offering a wide variety of switchers to address various needs such as selecting instruments, switching amplifiers, toggling between two heads using one cabinet or even switching between tow cabinets using one head. All of our switchers are hand assembled in Canada using the very best components.
The BigShot range are your entry point to switching simplicity: The BigShot ABY is a compact ABY switcher that enables you to either switch between two amplifiers or combine the signal when you want both amps to play at the same time. Set up one amp with your clean sound for sparkling chords and arpeggios and the other as your overdriven tone for monster riffs and solos.
The Twin-City is an active ABY switcher that upgrades the BigShot design, beginning with Radial's award winning class-A buffer for the most natural tone and Drag™ Control load correction that lets you reintroduce the natural load on the pickup as if connected directly to a tube amplifier. To eliminate hum and buzz from ground loops, the Twin-City is equipped with an isolation transformer on output B.
Acoustic Guitar and Bass generally sound better with a cleaner signal and more dynamic range than the overdriven, mid-range focused sound that is preferred for electric guitar. Tonebone builds a number of preamps tailored to each instrument.
The Tonebone PZ-Pre is the perfect match for acoustic guitar but also suitable for any acoustic instrument including banjo, violin, cello, mandolin, contrabass, bouzouki or lute. The magic lies in the combination of high performance 100% discrete class-A PZB piezo boosters, an ultra-quiet preamp circuit that will adapt to any pickup system and a host of connectivity options that will put you in total control.
The second generation Bassbone V2 features the same award-winning audio circuit that has made the original a top choice for many of the world's most prominent bass players. Featuring two channels, each with a unique EQ that enables you to adjust the tone to match your bass amp. A special PZB booster allows you to connect a piezo pick-up, such as used on an upright bass.
The Bassbone OD takes the features of the Bassbone V2 and adds a powerful on-board bass overdrive with control over the drive level and tone. A wet-dry mix lets you add slight grit similar to an Ampeg SVT or full on distortion depending on your mood. The OD footswitch may be assigned to the loop, overdrive or both.
