The Studio Legend - beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO

In 1937 the first ever dynamic headphone, the DT48, was created by Eugen Beyer, the founder of what would later become the world-famous headphone and microphone manufacturer beyerdynamic. Not only did the DT48 pave the way for the modern-day headphone, but it also stood the test of time and was actually still in production 75 years later until it was discontinued in 2012.

Although beyerdynamic are well known for a multitude of products, there’s one in particular that has become the most widely used in studios across the world, the DT 770 PRO. Since its release in 1985, the DT 770 PRO was quickly adopted as the industry standard in the studio world due to its quality of sound, wide frequency range, comfortability, and durable build. The DT 770 PRO headphones are considered to be a benchmark product amongst sound professionals as their acoustic definition brings musical details to light in a way that means these headphones are perfect for monitoring. High frequencies are translated into an analytical and differentiated sound. Ultra-low bass sounds are defined and reproduced crisply.

As previously stated, the DT 770 PRO is considered to be a benchmark product amongst its professional users, and for good reason too. The handmade high-quality drivers and sophisticated bass-reflex system, a membrane that breathes within the closed housing, makes the DT 770 PRO extremely precise in reproducing sound with its wide frequency range of 5 – 35,000 Hz. Ideal for monitoring and critical listening applications.

The DT 770 PRO is available in 32 Ohms for portable/mobile devices such as smartphones and laptops, 80 Ohms for general studio use, and 250 Ohms for mixing desks and audio interfaces. As with all beyerdynamic studio headphones, they are meticulously handcrafted in Germany using high-quality materials making this high-end product a long-term investment for the studio. They’re built to last and made of only the highest quality materials including neodymium magnets, aluminium forks, a steel headband, and soft velour earpads.

Today, the DT 770 PRO can be seen in almost every recording studio across the world as well as the famous Radio 1 Live Lounge videos available on their YouTube channel and are the BBC’s headphone of choice when it comes to presenting, performing and recording. Here's a few recent examples:
